Life goes on

So I am not really sure what to write this week. Apart from losing Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon, nothing exciting has happened this week.

Of course, I could rave on about little Roger the wonder cat. He is so sweet and loves his cuddles! Fluffy, trouble and very much lovable! Or perhaps you would like to see a vid of him and Ozzie playing.

I'll try post one. Not great quality though, but something to see anyway. They are funny to watch because the moment the dog comes inside the cat goes up to him and smooges his nose then attacks his nose, bites his ears, has a great time scruffing him! So far the dog is quite gentle with him, but I wouldn't really trust him if he got too playful.

Apart from that, there is nothing exciting going on in my life. We did a little shopping at the cheap shop on Saturday, bought heaps of stuff for the Christmas stockings though. Not much else. Grocery shopping Sunday was horrific! I used to shop at Woolies a long time ago then figured Coles were cheaper.

Then recently we chose Foodland because they had a bigger variety of meat stuffs, like pre packed schnitzel cheap etc. Then, the last big shop we did we went to Woolies again. It was quite a bit cheaper than Coles. This weekend Him got his shopping centres confused and we ended up back at Coles, and man, what a shock! I don't think I will go there again for awhile!

Jr Her went ice skating again this weekend. The friend she goes with goes every Saturday because her dad works there. So because she gets bored she wants Jr Her to go. We have to pay for her to go in, her skate hire, and snack money. Then we found out she was also buying for the other girl, and often going without her lunch to do so. We put our feet down and suggested that the other girl's father might like to buy her lunch so Jr Her could use her money for herself. She did that this time.

So, as you can see, nothing exciting ever happens in my world. *yawn*

Happy Happy Joy Joy

So I was a little apprehensive about going to the doctor this morning. It's time for my 3 month weigh in.

After Sydney, I thought because I hadn't gotten back into the walking, and I had been less than good while in Sydney, I would have put on a kg or so.

Well, as it turns out I have actually lost 200g. lol. How bout that! Made me feel good anyway.

So, I treated myself. As soon as I got to work today the Geek was waiting outside (early for once) to do some maintenance on my computer and add some RAM (it was soooooo slloowwwwww).

Turns out I was expected to go up the Parade to the Mac store and purchase said RAM.

Now, had I known I would have done it on the way in, or eve last night on the way home. But no, surprise!

So, off I trundle up the street. Well, turns out it's right next to the Rivers store. Rivers have shoes for $28. So I took a quick detour and bought two pairs. Nothing too flash but very comfortable.

Then I darted into Foodland and bought Him some of those flavoured nuts he likes.

Eventually I got back to the office, and now my computer goes like a dream and I wasted half the day doing nothing.

Can't be bad, can it?

Ozzie and Dodge

Ozzie and Roger psyche each other out...

So we thought with winter approaching we would start to bring the dog inside for a short time of an evening. He's so big we don't bring him inside too much, and never on the carpet cause he is of a timid nature and pees when excited (ugh).

So we got an old quilt and folded it in front of the china cabinet in the kitchen (those of you who have been inside my house will know of where I speak). He has been in 3 times now, and gets better each time, going right to his blanket and sitting down nicely.

The trouble is, as soon as the cat makes an appearance, he wants to follow it, and when he is focused, there is no breaking his concentration. When you do manage to penetrate his thick skull, he bounds straight back to his bed and lays down like he should have been in the first place.

Anyway, the cat doesn't seem too perturbed by Ozzie's presence. The first night he was actually playing with Ozzie's tail, and Ozzie wasn't game to move a muscle, just stared at Roger. It was quite funny.

The second night, Roger just slept on my lap and even when the dog was doing his little whine and throaty bark he gives when he wants someone to notice him, the cat slept on...

Last night was quite funny. Him sat on the floor (it's usually me) this time, and the cat promptly crawled in behind his back. Well, Ozzie was standing over Him trying desperately to catch a glimpse of the cat. Getting quite upset he was because the cat was hiding. Occasionally he would poke his head around and take a swipe at the dog's nose.
Roger hiding from Ozzie

Roger hops around the dog's bed, plays on it, plays with toys, right beside the dog, and the dog doesn't seem to mind at all. We are not convinced he can be trusted alone with the cat, and when he gets focused on him it's amazing to see. Ozzie goes almost rigid, and his glance will not waver. Ears are pricked up, body tense... he sometimes lunges at the cat, pushing his nose up against him, but so far has not nipped at him. Not sure what his next move will be.
Ozzie stares intently at Roger

The hardest part is getting him back outside. He goes mental running in and out, and will not for the life of him stay outside. He jams himself back inside the screen door so you can't close it, and will not budge. He has to be physically pushed aside. And if the cat happens to go near the door it's all over. Someone actually has to take the cat out of the room to get the dog outside. Of course, this fight means he gets yelled at, and what does he do then? Which is why he is NOT allowed on the carpet...

Mmmm... waffles

So I really don't have anything interesting to blog about, but I thought I should give little Roger the Dodger a mention.

He is so cute, all chocolate and fluffy like. He is a real live wire too, always hopping about the house getting into simply everything. He sleeps on the bed with Him through the day, and mostly I don't know where he goes at night. For 3 nights he has slept on my pillow mixed up in my hair (which is great now, but could be a problem when he grows up...). I think he spent a couple of nights under the bed, and one between Him's legs, which made it horribly uncomfortable cause Him had to spread out even more than usual, over my side of the bed...

Roger is quite up for cuddles, and likes to play in my lap while I am eating breakfast of a morning. He kind of snuggles up in my arm, playing with my fingers, or ripping apart my book, whichever takes his fancy.

Jr Her likes to cart him around everywhere. She made the mistake with Wally of always picking him up and not putting him down when he wanted to, so you couldn't pick him up at all. I fear she may to the same with this one. While she hasn't been as overtly mean to him, she tends to not respect certain cues as to his discomfort. Will be interesting... hope she doesn't ruin him like she did Wally.

Anyway, he is settling in very well.

Last night I phoned my best buddy who is sick with a cold, poor lamb. It was lovely to chat to her, and I miss her lots. Hopefully she can come see me some time - it's her turn, I visited her last time! lol. Anyway, I really should phone her more often.

Other than that, life is the same old same old. Boring round of work, housework, sleep, work, housework, sleep... etc. Must be time to introduce some excitement.... suggestions anyone?
